This week Imperial Twilight welcomes a special guest, Professor John Foot, to discuss the Red Brigades. They were the most dynamic and dangerous of the political terror organizations during Italy’s Years of Lead. Foot is an expert on modern Italian history and in 2025 published a book on the Red Brigades. We discuss the organization, their formation, behavior and ultimate downfall. We also cover how this still affects Italy today as Italy still is prosecuting members for their acts. Is there any insight into how these orgs form that 21st century Westerners? Of course. We discuss the problems of radicalization, echo chambers and the peculiar conditions in modern America.
