Donald Crowhurst was a British inventor, hustler and amateur yacht racer. His life definitely fits more with the 2020s than the 1960s. Crowhurst had a start-up, invented a hi-tech product, manipulated media, was a daring risk taker, had a bizarre manifesto and ended up dead. He acted like a lot of people do today with social media. His tragic ending should be a warning about how much we as a society enable smooth talkers and how much social media amplifies these types today.
