Today’s special episode for paying subscribers focuses on Jared Diamond’s book Guns, Germs and Steel. This book was a mass market production to convince readers that the age of exploration and who colonized whom was the luck of geography. We lay out Diamond’s thesis and poke holes in it. We also note how this became a weapon in the college system to prime students for the full buffet of 21st century university indoctrination. Due to its use for a generation of incoming college freshman, it is a touchstone for arguments by those most aligned with the system. This is a long con more than an educational book.
