This week’s episode covers a newer concept bouncing around the punditry: elite human capital. Is it really new or is it just the same elitism (rebranded) that got us to this moment of divergence between the ruling class and the masses? Separate your feelings about its Twitter/X advocates and think about the message: is it self-serving or new and spot on? We start with a discussion of a book from the ‘90s that is prophetic in its warnings about a dangerous, disconnected elite and the masses. Christopher Lasch predicted this current moment, so why double down on what is not working? Some of this also obviously avoids the truth about the entire liberal coalition. Elite human capital tries to justify its rule and has an ideological bent, yet at the end of the day, is it just reheated neoliberalism?
